The Minnesota Business Valuation Group is proud to list Dr. Stanley (Stan) L. Pollock among the resources we have to offer. Stan is the MBVG Affiliate in charge of healthcare and professional services. He is uniquely qualified in these areas, having earned multiple degrees and certifications as well as having practiced in medical specialties.
His ‘real world’ experience includes having practiced as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He has also been a management consultant as well as a certified business and professional practice appraiser. Stan conducts independent appraisals and other corporate finance services for businesses, including the purchase and sale of practices. He provides support for other professionals in the Minnesota Business Valuation Group who do not have the depth of knowledge in this very technical area.
Stan earned his D.M.D. degree from the School of Dental Medicine (University of Pittsburgh). After completing advanced oral and maxillofacial surgery training and active duty in the United States Air Force, he started a specialty practice in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, which eventually included two additional practices. Stan earned a Master of Science degree in Anesthesia and Oral Surgery from the School of Health Professionals from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and the National Board of the Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Stan is a Fellow of the American College and the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and he is past Chairman of the Departments of Dentistry of the South Hills Health System, Armstrong County Memorial Hospital and Monsour Medical Center.
As a professional in his area, Stan has had a lifetime commitment to professional development which led to earning a second Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Business and Hospital Science Administration, and a Juris Doctor degree. He is a Master Certified Business Appraiser (MCBA), a Business Valuator Accredited in Litigation (BVAL), a Certified Financial Planner ™ (CFP), a Chartered Financial Consultant (CFA), Certified Estate Planner (CEP) and in Mergers & Acquisitions. He has been selected by Medical Economics as One of the Best 150 Financial Planners in the United States for Doctors.
Stan is a member of the Institute of Business Appraisers, the American Bar Association, the Financial Planning Association, the National Association of Healthcare Consultants, and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. He is also a Certified Healthcare Business Consultant by the Institute of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants and has also served on its Board of Trustees and chaired its educational committee. Stan has served on the faculties of the School of Dental Medicine of the Universities of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Dental Association’s Continuing Education Divisions, and has been a Consultant to the Committee on Practice Management of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons for nine years.
Pollock is a teacher, speaker, and author. He lectures nationally and internationally on topics in practice valuation, associateships, financial and practice management, estate planning, and asset protection. Stan was Editorial Consultant to Today’s Health Care and The Health Care Practitioner and assists in the Practice Management Section of Medical Economics. Stan is the author of more than 85 articles published in national and local publications, including chapters in Valuing Professional Practices and Licenses, Fonseca’s Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Volume Three (Practice Management), Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Clinics of North America 1995, 1999, and 2007, The Survival Guide for Dentists and recently, Valuing Professional Practices and Licenses, A Guide for the Matrimonial Practitioner, Aspen Publishers, New York, NY, 2006 – 2007 Editions.
Stan has been a guest editor on 10 occasions for the national audiotape series Practical Reviews in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, lecturing on professional practice valuation, associateships, practice management, and analyses.
Pollock has served as an arbitrator with the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and as a mediator with the Pennsylvania Mediation Center. He was registered with the SEC and the Pennsylvania Securities Commission as a Registered Investment Advisor. He has acted in litigation support for business appraisal in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, North Dakota, and California. Stan is also President and Chief Executive Officer of Professional Practice Planners, Inc., a comprehensive health care consultancy, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
