Stephen (Steve) Shulman and Anchin Block & Anchin LLP are Affiliates of the Minnesota Business Valuation Group. Steve brings strong skills to MBVG from his role at Anchin where he is the partner-in-charge of ABA's litigation support, forensic and valuation services group in addition to the business risk services group. His background brings complementary skills and his position provides a strong geographical positioning for MBVG with his presence in New York City. The additional strength of Anchin with its certification for doing SEC work and Sarbanes-Oxley reviews provides depth to MBVG's coverage.
Steve founded Shulman Weingarten & Co., CPAs in 1981 and served as managing partner from its inception until it joined forces with Anchin, Block & Anchin LLP in 2002. He has been qualified as an expert in the New York Supreme Court and Federal Court. As a Certified Public Accountant since 1973, Mr. Shulman distinguishes himself with the unique blend of experience and business acumen that enables his clients to identify and attain goals.
During his career, Steve has provided clients with attestation and consulting services creating an environment for growth, recovery, and strategic sizing of operations to coincide with current and forecasted economic and business events. He has structured his clients’ businesses to take advantage of corporate finance opportunities and strategic tax planning. Steve has provided litigation support and investigative services for more than 16 years and valuation services for more than 20 years to public and privately-held corporations, international banks, individuals and attorneys.
Among Steve's strengths is his ability to utilize technology, database management, and computer analysis to synthesize and mine large volumes of data, uncovering information used by the attorneys and organizations he represents. He has provided forensic accounting and valuation services in investigating commercial fraud, damage analysis, tracing of funds, corporate investigations, identifying irregular application of generally accepted accounting principles, restatement of financial statements and the misapplication of generally accepted auditing standards.
Steve provides business risk services to his clients including advising publicly-held companies on how to comply with certain sections of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. The Business Risk Services Group also manages corporate risk through information technology audits, financial management and reporting reviews and operational reviews.
